Montauk Playhouse Community Center

One of the most under-the-radar places in Montauk with a real basketball court is the Montauk Playhouse Community Center. The gymnasium has a full court you can reserve, and while it’s typically used for town programs and leagues, it’s ideal for pickup games, practices, or a non-weather-dependent session especially in shoulder season months when outdoor play isn’t always ideal. Right next to the recently renovated, popular skateboard park you’ll find an outdoor basketball court embedded in a vibrant activity hub. It’s visible, easy to access while cruising downtown, and perfect for casual play or combining skate/basketball sessions with friends. Montauk School
Situated off of 2nd house road, the Montauk School has a little know basketball court, a large football and baseball field as well as one of the best childrens playground in town. Now lets get back to hoops, you will likely never find a game here but the hoops are solid and a great, quiet place to get your shots in.
Hither Hills State Park Campground & Playground
Another best kept secret in Montauk, the parking lot has a single basketball hoop which provides a great break from the beach. The sea breeze adds a challenge to hitting those jumpshots but it is a fun little setup. There is a fee to enter the ground (~$10 parking) but you gain access to an amazing stretch of beach, childrens playground and the newly opened Hither Hills General Store.
Cedar Beach Town Park
Not exactly in Montauk, but if you’re heading a bit west toward Mount Sinai — this park sometimes has areas with recreational courts and open spaces that families use for ball handling and shooting practice between beach days. It’s a nice little stop as part of a longer adventure outside the Montauk bubble.
